Welcome to the Tolbooth!

​

The Tolbooth is a small, family run cafe bistro within an historic building in Musselburgh. We are just below the bell tower at the racecourse end of the High Street.

​

The Tolbooth is owned and run by chef Jonathan Newton supported by a professional and hard-working team. 

​​

After many years within some of Edinburgh’s top restaurants and working with local fine food producers Jonny took up the opportunity to combine both these loves by taking over the Tolbooth in April 2011.

​​

Excellent food, freshly prepared, all day six days a week

​

During the day we serve coffee, fresh, tasty breakfast and lunches, freshly baked cakes and delicious savouries from 9am to 4pm Monday through to Saturday.  We also offer special treats such as a traditional Afternoon Tea and serve dinner the last Friday and Saturday of the month to Tolbooth Supper Club (the TSC) members.​

Did you know that you can book a private dinner party at the Tolbooth or have us come to you with Private Catering tailored to your needs?

Afternoon Tea at the Tolbooth​

Delicious homemade scones, pastries, cakes and sandwiches with tea or coffee.

​

Monday  to Saturday - (24hr notice required)

£10 per person for a minimum of two people.​  

Afternoon Tea is prepared especially for you so booking is required please.

Join us at the Tolbooth Supper Club (the TSC)

We also open on the Friday and Saturday of the last weekend of every month for the Tolbooth Supper Club (the TSC).
